My Little Pony: Party of One – Review

My Little Pony, Party of One is an interactive story for your iPad or iPhone! It is created by PlayDate Digital an interactive, educational software publisher.

It’s a great little app for toddlers and preschool-aged children! My kids were so excited when we were given the chance to review this app! The little guy was the most excited – he stood patiently waiting for it to download! Finally, when it downloaded all four kids ran to the couch to test it out together! My oldest enjoyed it the first go-round (always something new) but the other three continued to play with it time after time.

This is an interactive app for little kids who are just learning to read. There are amazing graphics (it looks just like the My Little Pony television show!), bright colors, and even Pinkie Pie’s official voice!

In My Little Pony, Party of One Pinkie Pie wants to invite all her favorite pony friends to a party but everyone is busy. She has to search for clues to find out why! Click on the pages to follow the story and solve her dilemma!

PROS:

  • Graphics are amazing
  • Features all the favorite “ponies”: Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, and more!
  • Featuring Pinkie Pie’s official TV voice in the app!
  • 17 different scenes to explore
  • Clickable ponies that come to life
  • Highlights words to help with reading and vocabulary
  • Parents can track the child’s progress

CONS:

  • The only official voice is Pinkie Pie

LEARNING GOALS:

  • Practice reading skills AND introduce new vocabulary words

My younger kids enjoyed this app. They had lots of fun playing with it over and over again! I like to think that repetition is the key to learning. As they watched the words become highlighted over and over again it became an easy way to help reinforce “sight words”. It also is kid-friendly and non-violent which gets a gold star in my book! If your child is a fan of My Little Pony you will want to check out this app! If you are interested in trying it out you will find it on the App Store.
